Gerry Strange
Gerry is based in Waihi, Bay of Plenty, with over 35 years of dairy farming experience in the Thames Valley and Waihi areas. Before leaving farming in 2016, he discovered Kiwi Fertiliser and the Albrecht/Kinsey soil fertility system. This was a lightbulb moment, getting answers to questions about soil fertility, pastures and animal health. This ignited a passion for understanding the interconnectedness of soil health.
From 2016, Gerry worked closely with farm consultant David Law, deepening his knowledge in the Albrecht/Kinsey system, effluent management, and biological farming. By 2018, he transitioned to a full-time consultancy role with Kiwi Fertiliser, where he applies his insights into animal health, pasture persistence and quality issues to help others enhance productivity and sustainability in their farming practices.
As part of his consultancy, Gerry conducts on-farm visual soil assessments and takes deep soil core samples up to 1.2 meters. These assessments demonstrate how deeply plant roots can penetrate when conditions are optimal and help measure carbon sequestration. Additionally, he assists with fertiliser deliveries and the application of liquid biological products, ensuring that farmers and contractors implement procedures correctly when starting Total Replacement Therapy (TRT) applications. This patented program is designed to drastically reduce synthetic nitrogen use while maintaining profitability, along with providing significant environmental benefits.
Gerry covers the Hauraki Plains, Coromandel and Bay of Plenty areas.
