Bernard Lilburn
Bernard Lilburn has had a lifetime of living and working in the agricultural and rural community, so he understands how it all works. Bernard has been involved owning and running an extensive pastoral farming company, rural transport and school bus contracts as well as a growing involvement in fertiliser logistics, consultancy and sales.
In 1991, the transport company was contracted to move 3500 tons of Peruvian Sechura RPR, from Wellington to the Mt View Store near Marton. https://www.mtview.co.nz/
After transporting the product, he thought some should be applied to the property – on the worst ground. The results were spectacular, and he quickly became a convert. The property today still uses RPR based fertilisers with positive change in soil fertility, animal health and production.
Now semi-retired, Bernard has continued his involvement with the fertiliser industry, and the Mt View Store. The best farming years have seen over 10,500 tons of product go through the Mt View Store, all custom blends for farming clients, ultimately requiring the need to employ a store manager.
Bernard joined with Ron McLean and Kiwi Fertiliser in 2014. Sending soils to the Perry Agri-cultural Lab in America and learning how to properly read a soil test was a game changer for this consultant, using the training with Neil Kinsey and the Kinsey Albrecht system of soil fertility. A meet with this fertiliser specialist, in conjunction with proper soil audit information, will give you advice and a blend that fits your farm or requirement, not something off the price list or what the corporate head office needs to sell. There is so much more to soil fertility than Olsen P and pH. There are 16 nutrients and trace elements required for ultimate pasture and crop production.
Bernard now focuses on consulting to farmers, using experience and knowledge gained over 30 years of farming and being in the fertiliser industry, covering an area from Ohakune through the Rangitikei, Manawatu, Wairarapa and down into the Horowhenua.
One of the things that he finds amusing is dairy farmers tearing around dusting paddocks with magnesium at their busiest time of the year! Put the Magnesium in the fertiliser – it’s cheaper, it’s there and saves time – and money. Fact.
Production = profit, and our aim is to increase your production.
